I started my career in cakes at 15, just kept with it through high school, progressed to culinary school, becoming a pastry chef. Simply put food is my passion but I never was satisfied working for someone else but could never venture out on my own until I realized I wanted to be a mother. Classic Cakes was born to help this artistic independence I sought, having my own storefront and having the life/work balance I never saw women working in a commercial kitchen had.

Cake is my way to express. Full circle my emphasis is on, does the cake taste good and can you afford it. I’ve been making cakes for 34 years and Classic Cakes is celebrating our 21st year in business in 2024.
I’m a purist baker meaning, I’m clean. No chemicals, stabilizers , colors or synthetic foods are used. I make my own jams, jellies and curds. If I can grow it for the studio, I will. My cakes are lower sugar, not the super sweet boxed cake mix. I only work in Swiss meringue which is our house buttercream.
The most rewarding part of my job is making people happy with cake. I’m a sensory kind of person. Never skimp on that part of the wedding, that’s what people will remember for years after your wedding. Making happy food memories, that’s my gift.
